Was ist eigentlich "The Technoradar Daily"

Bild

CeBIT Day 3 more things

Bild
In the end it was a great day, meeting lots of people and discussing the new trends coming up. A bit disappointed by the Xtreamer team, as the new device announced upfront was just a cold demo and not running. The new box is announced to become available in April, we will see whether they can keep up with their plans. USB 3.0 getting finally through to the market. From USB Sticks to external graphics cards there is a lot to come as the significantly higher speed give room to lots of new / better features for peripherals. So to come to an end i finished up at the Telekom booth. Lots of new devices to get in direct touch. The Motorola Xoom, the new Sony Xperia Play Phone and all the actual devices of Samsung, HTC ... ... and - not to forget - Nokia. But the crowds did not show up at the nice Nokia stand. Even HTC is trying to get into the tablet space. A nice 7 inch device was on display. So after the formal closing of the exposition day lots of action and music w

CeBIT Day 3 Webciety "Kamingespräch"

Bild
In the end I watched many talks today ... Bloggers in a nice discussion round at webciety in hall 6 was my last one. Big discussion on what makes up a relevant blogger or opinion leader. One could feel that these three are really different. But whom am I talking about? There is really a difference in habits and behavior.  but I don't want to judge. Whats important is, that the online communities are vivid, living social groups enjoying the possibilities of the internet age. The moderator seemed not to understand, what a geek really is, but he was also the only one wearing a suit... But I enjoyed the conversation a lot and try to meet up with Sascha Pallenberg again today, as I a following his Twitter feed for awhile and he is nearly everywhere, where new devices and gadgets come around. Watch out for the video feeds coming up on the Webciety website . The talk is linked there now. Go to 04. März and watch out for the title "Die Influencer Economy & die Ich-Marke&q

CeBIT Day 3 Roundtable Talk with Chris Pirillo

Bild
Global Conferences just created a special format to have some more direct interaction with the speakers.  So round table talks are offered for pre registered visitors. I took the chance to meet up with Chris in this round with only some few others. We talked about the Wikileaks phenomenon and how US citizens are experiencing it. And about Chris's profession and his future plans. He wants to change from just running a community to be more focussed on jobs like a specialized media agency. So there is more to come ;-) All in all it was great to meet up with Chris. He is quite a character and a real open minded and social thinking individual. And he really is the committed geek - for sure not a nerd - and an always positive thinking, joking guy. It was a real pleasure to spend some time with him.

CeBIT Day 3 Global Conferences

Bild
Back again, pretty cold outside, but today is my Global Conferences Day. Nice and warm seating in the auditorium. Nice AC plugs for bloggers, excellent WiFi Coverage, so a quite reasonable start of the day. Just on the way to the conference center, some impressions first. Unfortunately I did not meet Mr. Watson "in person", he was too shy to get exposed to all the interested visitors at the same time, so I just had to live with some offline demo showing his performance in the well known contest. The difference to "Deep Blue" in the chess turnament is, that Watson is running on standard hardware, about 10 big racks of actual IBM servers and only the programming is very specific to compete with humans in  Jeopardy!   Did I already mention, that is was really cold this morning? Coming to the Conference Area it was really crowded and lots of people waiting for their registration. The day was introduced professionally including the live streaming audienc

CeBIT 2011 Connected Living and more

Bild
First impressions on my second day on the fairground. With a big installation in hall 19 and a set of breakout session "Connected Living" is really visible and active this year. Problems of the different innovation cycles and the amount of active players in this field with completely different background, like the good old light switch are discussed in parallel discussion rounds. The overall complexity toi be managed, the 20 year installation infrastructures versus the 2 year cycle of mobile terminal evolvement do per not match but have to be managed consistently to establish and embrace the home ecosystem. Questions of user acceptance and real needs are discussed and in the end only the market demand will decide, what type of solutions will prevail or make its way to mass markets. Not to forget a nice integration developed by Alcatel Lucent. The home plag server on a USB stick. impressive... Got awarded with an innovation award at CES 2011 in January. But bes
